Last batch.
I enjoyed reading the story (it reminded me a bit of When the Saucers Came by Neil Gaiman, but diferent), lots of running... :9
The ending was a bit abrupt for me. And I'd rather have the characters face the reader, or at least show the girl's face to me in the end (since I felt a bit detached from the girl). It's a crazy scenario, but it's worth the trip.
This was a well written retelling of an epic story. The script and the art are both really good. It introduced me to really interesting creatures (which i'm not sure if the author made up or are already part of our folklore), and I enjoyed it a lot.
Just when I thought the fun was over, the issue came to a point that would allow one of the characters to show off (I was waiting for that to happen). So I'm looking forward to the next ish to see that finally happen...
As for the clipboard section, maybe Wallpush should organize a Patintero event involving comic enthusiasts? Just a thought...
This is another Fairytale story with a twist. Even if most of the characters were borrowed from existing tales, the story is a completely new tale. The art is clean and simple. I liked the concept a lot, and it left me hanging...which would prompt me to look for the next ish... OwO
It's a simple stand alone story set in the world of Zombies in Manila (found in ish. 4). I liked the art. Despite of the art's cuteness, the story retained its dark flavor, which I can attribute to the story's concept and supported by character designs. Yep, short and sweet :9
It's a different take-on the superhero genre. I liked the concept. The storytelling got a bit confusing when the story shifted to other characters and their flashbacks. I also got a bit lost in the lineart detail, particularly the pages that didn't have gray tones. But I liked that pencilled panel and it would be nice to see more of those in the coming issues.
Wall Push -- Ping Pon-G #2
It was a nice start, but I hoped issue 2 had more pages since it was too short. Also, the wiki rules of the game could have been placed at the end of the comic, since the the first and the last 2 lines (on the page) could have sufficed. I wanna see more of the lead character's moves, so more pages hopefully next time....
Hanep sa punchline. But he told the joke it in such a way that the laughter in the end sounded like the taunting pigs in the game Angry Birds. Nice one.
The concept was interesting. The art was also very nice, but I got a little distracted with the big dots (in the first half). Loved the dino art btw.
Jonathan Del Mundo -- Balot
The art style fits the dark story. The pace was just right, but the ending was a bit abrupt for me, and it left me clueless on what happened to him after. Still, it's a well told story
The story now begins. Like I said before this title has a very interesting concept. Art is still very clean and solid, but sometimes I'm having some trouble deciding what I'm looking at because of the close-up shots in some of the panels. I'm looking forward for the next ish. :3
Sobrang bitin naman nung Full upgrade...Oops... preview pala...Any plans for compiling your first 7 issues? Nice cover BTW...
The Comic Journal (I'll just shorten the title for this review cuz I'm lazy) is one of those comics that you flip over to get the whole picture. Both stories end in the centerfold, and both are also open ended. The story is about a girl and a guy who had to work together for a project, but it was told in their own point of view. Nothing deep in the story, but it was pretty interesting. The first few dialogues on side B, hovever, got drowned in the lineart, which was detailed and could've been separated with some more white space around it. Other than that (and the pale copy), it was fun to read.
The story is set in post apocalyptic Philippines. The story, storytelling and the concept are really good. The comic reminded me of Tekkon Kinkreet, but not as dark. The art is very VERY yummy and is now one of my fave indies so far. The comic would've looked better if it was printed with a better photocopier, and some of the art's details are lost because of it. This is a first of 2 issues, and I'm not sure how the author's going to end the story with just one issue, but I'm gonna wait for #2 and will definitely get a copy of it when comes out~! XD
Whew~! That's it for the Summer Komikon stash.
Got a lot of free comics last Free Comic Book day from Comic Odyssey, t'was tiring but hey we got lots of freebies~!
I got a new batch of indies from MCC, but I'll be reading/posting my reviews after I'm done with writing the drafts for Kanto Inc. #3, so please bear with me for now.
"Till next post~!
