Hi guys!  I know I haven't been uploading stuff here...sorry about that... ^_^;

BUT that doesn't mean Cresci Prophecies is on hold!  I recently finished the inks for chapter 26 (2nd chapter) of Vol. 4., and I'm currently working on the letters.

I'm also planning to make another round of Indie Thang soon.

Now having said that, I won't be able to attend the November Komikon, and I won't be able to make copies of Vol. 1... :(

I'll be having a 2-3 month hiatus from comic production, because...I'm preparing to be a Mom (ultra nervous right now)... ^_^;
I know the baby and comic production sked is gonna drive me nuts, but I'll try my best to release Vol. 4 next year.

So, if you want to check out the current progress of CP, you can view it on CP's FB page --> www.facebook.com/CresciProphec…

Anyway, that's it for now!  I'll review the Indieket stash next journal, so stay tuned!  ;)

This is a not so review/bullet reviews of the indies I got over the last few cons.  This is the last batch I got from SummerKon.

May contain spoilers...

:icontyrfryt: Ink Jinks -- Horror Asylum #1-2

Pacing is good.  Naaalala ko yung mga wakasan komiks.  I like the gritty art.  However, the stories in issues 1-2 feels the same.  Different situation, but almost the same story.  Probably because of GIRLS, and the setting.  I even wondered if they were connected...but H.A. is probably composed of stand alone stories.  I could be wrong... But generally I liked it.  :)

:icontepaipascual: Paolo Herras -- Noodle Boy #1

I like the silent panels, nice mood too.  Pacing is okay for print...but a little too long as a web comic me thinks.  Since the issue was pretty short, it serves as an appetizer for me.  The script is okay, just got a little confused with analogy part, but I got the hang of it. I found it quite interesting, I'm just hoping there would be more stuff happening next time.  :)

:iconvanchandesu:  Karuma #00

When I first saw Karuma, and most of the author's titles, I was wondering about how much she spent on the colored pages... O_O.  The whole thing was in color! Anyway, script and pacing is pretty nice!  A lot of stuff happened on the issue.  Some of the lines got cropped since there was very little space from the edges.  Overall, it's pretty interesting.  :)

:iconwadevesecha:  Slash #2-4

The pacing improved a lot on the following issues.  I like the shots and fight scenes.  I still get confused when they mention about Slash and def (defense) sometimes, but I guess I'll get used to it.  I found a part of Issue 4 a little abrupt (when Alizeti came back to her house), but I guess there's more to come, so the author is speeding up some of the details in the story. It got pretty interesting, so I'll check out the next issue.  ^_^

:iconraykosen:  D.ICE #1

Pacing is okay, and the story is quite interesting.  :3
However, I'm not a fan of colored paper.  ^_^;  Not sure if the comic ran through the Riso process.  The first 4 pages (painted parts of the comic) didn't go well with the printing.  The first lines in the first page faded on me, and the blue paper made it more difficult to read (that also made it difficult to read the articles).  Also, the top and bottom margins are a bit too big for the comic layout.

Setting the production aspects aside, the script in pretty nice, and I still want to know what happened to those girls at school... ;)

Nino Balita -- Ang Inuuod Kong Puso

Probably the author's most bizarre title so far.  The situation was so silly, that I can't help but agree with the protagonist's parents.  ^_^;;  But I gotta hand it to Nino that he's really good with making entertaining stories.  :P

:iconkaicastle:/FL3 -- Agawan Base #1

Following the concept of Patintero, Agawan Base is another interesting sport topic.  Script and pacing is still okay.  Since the set of characters for this story is different from Patintero, I'm expecting this title to get a little more interesting or have a sort of "survival mode".  Running the around the city is an interesting part of the game, and I'd like te story to take a more serious turn in the future.  :P  (but then again that's just me)

:iconmac0y:  School Run #6

Macoooooooooooooy.... ibang klaseng bitin 'tong 6.  Please sundan mo agad, masyadong gut-wrenching yung dulo~!  >___<

:iconlady-storykeeper:  Dragon Kid #6

Pacing is and script is okay.  My nitpick with this one is the last page.  I didn't notice where it came from (I though it just went boom), until the author mentioned it in the blurb.  This issue is pretty nice by the way...yung last page lang talaga...

:iconburn-our-dough: Noel Pacual -- Crime-Fighting Call Center Agents #3

The punchline is golden!  XD  I kinda spoiled it for myself though (since I turned 2 pages), but since I had to turn back to get it, parang di rin ako na spoil.  XP Pinoy humor/popculture reference was used really well... I mean REALLY well.  I'm not sure if younger readers will get it, but I sure had a great time reading it.  XD

:iconsirwen11: Pazin-tave Komiks -- Juanderlandia #2

The comic is getting better by the issue.  All of the author's influences rubbed-off on him pretty good.  The pacing and fight scenes were really nice.  And the designs were just soo nice~!  Next issue please~!  My nitpick is, around 2 lines were cut off the page...be carefull with margins next time.

:iconcarlorozykomiks:  Darwin's Association of Delicious Evilness #1

Now, this is one of the most interesting titles in the batch.  The concept isn't new, since there's "Despicable Me", but the treatment is VERY different and much more adult than the former.  While reading it, I had mixed feelings on whether I wanted Darwin to succeed, but I'm also very curious on whether he can achieve his dream.  Expect exploded heads to go back to normal, and more violence  (the gag kind) in the comic.

I'm a little offed by the big font sizes in some of the the boxed narration...smaller font sizes next time (or at least make it a little more consistent)?  ^_^;  But worth the pick-up, so don't miss it!  ;D

***

That's the last of the indie stash~!  :D  I'm now working on CP chapter 26, and hopefully I get to finish that before my comic-making hiatus.

This is a not-so-review/bullet reviews of the indies I got during the past Kon.  This batch came from Summer Komikon 2012.

May contain spoilers…

Studio 4 Eyes  :iconsuoh12::iconpandaandpotato: --   I Han it for Love #1-2

Pacing and story is pretty good.  Lots of funny moments too!

When I read the first issue, I never expected the story to turn a different way in the 2nd issue.  The first chapter hooked me, but the 2nd one intrigued me a lot.  Looking forward to the 3rd installment!  :3

Studio 4 Eyes/Gervi  – Team Gemini  #1

The script and pacing is okay…  I just had a bit of trouble following what was happening in the action scenes.  The lineart also needs a few thicker lines here and there  (the part where the monster appeared was the best page).  Adding some tones could also help identify a few shapes…  ^_^;

Studio 4 Eyes/:iconkurohiko:  Crystal Shadows  #1-3

Story is quite interesting and pacing is good.  I just found the 3rd chapter a bit short.  :P

:iconlarizsantos:  Aliguyon

The art looked really nice…but it was partly ruined by comic sans (sorry!), it just didn't match.  Medyo bitin  din yung  storytelling.  ^_^;

:iconlarizsantos:  Please be Careful with my Bones

The story was funny, nice and bitter at the same time.  LOL on the election joke. :P

Pinsel Project/:iconlarizsantos:  /Wynell Patricio –  Banakalz: Seeker of the Lost Relics #1

The concept is pretty nice, and the story is quite interesting.  I think it can do away with the story info page, or maybe save it for the next installment.

I got  a little confused with the "Five Countries"  page, since I still took the country name blurbs as captions (even if it wasn't boxed…probably because of the commas that followed each name).  It would have helped if Aerokana was in a separate panel, or just include the other names of the country in the script/narration.  When I read the next page, I had to return to the 5 countries page, since I missed which country was ruled by the Levi.

Pacing and shots were also okay.  Overall it was interesting… worth a second pick-up… :3

Infinity Manga/Kakashi Motou – War Zero #1

The storytelling, script and shots were ok.  I can see the how Oda's influence rubbed-off on the author, and based on the choice of shots, he learned well.

I would have preferred the title and dialogues be done digitally (or at least the dialogues could use a ruler).  Most of the lines were too cramped, or had too much space.  Fortunately, I had no problem reading  the lines.  Panels need to be drawn a bit thicker, since the art has enough details on it to drown-out  the panels.  Shadows also need to look more solid/uniform too.

Overall, I still liked it.  :3

Infinity Manga/Pschoket/Valkrie – Ma'lakh's Tale  #1

Story, script  and pacing is okay.  I had a little problem following with the visual-storytelling .  I do get that I have to read the bakery scene along with events in the Infernal Region.  The confusion started when the angel started transforming, and other characters started coming in (probably because the angel and Malach's hair looked the same, save for the horn).

The shots are okay though, I still got the hang of the story.  Thicker panels next time maybe?  :3  I still find it interesting enough to follow….and the characters are quite interesting too.  :3

Ink Jinks Comics/Jake Vicente --  Tonio T. #1

I  really like the funny script and the pacing is pretty good.  Honestly, I didn't like the cover art.  However, I like the interior art, and I like the funny facial expressions.   :D

I got confused at the end of the chapter.  The author  made a nice buildup around the Martial Law history, and ended the chapter with a surprised Tonio…and then "FIN".  Waitaminute…no follow-up on that one?!  If ever issue 2 is going to continue that scene, do avoid putting "FIN" at the end.  Otherwise, you just made an unsatisfactory read for me.  "FIN"  can be used if there was closure (for the story), and I didn't get any.

But since I really like the script, and the story already got me interested, I'll most probably pick up the next one…

:iconmelcasipit:  Mukat  #8-9

This time, Mel's art became a little more detailed.  I kinda envy that he can make a comic like this back when he was in College (I wish I could do backgrounds too…but talent escapes me).  The handwriting got cleaner too.   I like the shots, and the scene shifts worked very well.

Also liked the fight scene between Birai and Prince Eric.  Eric was soo cool!  X3  On the other hand, the rising  posts of the prison in issue 8 wasn't that clear to me (I had to look back several times to check how it appeared).

But of course, I still like the story, and I liked it that Mel will be updating Mukat's art soon~!  :D

Nino Balita – Espiritista  #1

Nino took a bite at serialization.  This is different from the first 2 titles I read from him.  I think bagay yung art style niya dun sa kwento.  :3  I like the pace, the script and the overall storytelling.  For a tiny comic book, it's pretty much packed with action and info.

It's an enjoyable read for me.  I'll be sure to get the next one.  :D

 One more batch to review from the Summer Komikon!   So watch out for the last mixed stash bullets next time~!  :D

This is a not-so-review/bullet reviews of the indies I got during Summer Komikon 2013 (at last).

May contain spoilers …

Pampolina/Centeno – Shiroi Akuma
The script is okay.  My main nitpick would be… the font size and font.  You know my issue about Comic Sans, so let's talk about the size.  It was way too big, bigger than most of the word baloons.   When the size of a normal dialogue becomes bigger than the word balloon, it clutters the layout of the page.  The text covered a lot of the lineart, and makes it confusing  to follow.  In this case, the text overpowered the art.  Toning down the font size and thickening the lineart would do the comic good.

:iconikotron: Paraluman: Ala-ala ni Maria  #3
The story is still intresting, and my old nitpick for the title is still there.  The switch between thoughts, or the person talking still confuses me.  Sometimes the spoken dialogue is outside the bubble, sometimes not.  Keeping the format consistent (thought dialogues would remain baloonless, spoken words baloons kept in balloons, at least for the rest of the issue ) could help avoid confusing readers.

I kinda like the twist in the end.  :3

Marco Dimaano/Kriss Sison – Ninja Girl KO! Indie Special #2
Still funny with clean lines!  Even if the authors mentioned that they probably won't  go back to the old story, I think it's still connected, so it's all cool to me.

:iconraykosen:  Luzviminda #0
I like the story and script so far.  I wish I could draw old people as good as Ray though.  :P  The yellow paper takes a lot of getting used to, I still prefer a less brighter color or white when reading.  ^_^;

Salimpusa/Double Jeff – The Tales of Wiz #1
The script and story is interesting enough for a 2nd buy.  It's a little short though, and I have no idea what could happen in the next 5 issues…hopefully more pages and events next time?  :3

Mulong Gonzales -- The Noc Show
I liked most of the strips, especially the ones I can relate to (jeepney rides, types of friends).  In the smoking jokes…I could relate more to the girl who dumped him (sorry… ^_^; ).  But I do agree that hold-uppers should be stricken by lightning… >: )

:icongumbocrafael:  Mekanismo Prelude
Unfortunately, I read #1 first…but I guess it's okay.  I like the grays here more than in issue #1, but photocopiers and gradients dont mix well, so that's probably why the author switched to tones instead.

Dark Bulb Comic/Nelz Yumul – Shatter Space
Shatter Space still has that underground indie feel.  The art is highly stylistic.  Though I appreciate the unique look, the visuals can sometimes be a little confusing.  The big dots probably look good in color, but in black and white, the tones are a little too overpowering.  It's still a nice trippy read, and I'm looking forward to the cute animals in suits.  :P

:icongiosdesk:  Lakan at Makisig #2
You can never go wrong with this series .  Still highly entertaining.  :D

:iconmac0y: and Eric Tang – The Megalodon/The Cretaceous
I sometimes forget how imaginative, and how spontaneous kids are.  Reading the two titles is like listening to a kid's story about what he dreamed the other night.  It's quite trippy for me, and I quite enjoyed it.  :3

:iconmac0y: and Eiji Tang – Captain Piggy
Like his brother's work, the comic is quite amusing.  Compared to Eric's story,  Captain Piggy has more of a plot to it.  It's a cool read for kids me thinks.  :3

:iconlady-storykeeper: One Floor Up #1
I started reading  this over at DA, and I really enjoy reading the strips.  :D  The author excluded a few earlier strips from the compilation, but it still works without showing Diwa moving out of her parent's house.   Having celebs as neighbors is an interesting setup, and like the script and the characters a lot.  :D

:iconpower-j:  Coin and Flour Vol. 1
I'm really happy this got printed, since I really like Jayron's stories (and I don't have an andriod phone… ^_^;).  I enjoy reading  the series.  Even if the story seems light hearted, I have a feeling Coin and Flour's cute relationship would have troubles along the way…and might not have a happy ending.  Hopefully I'm wrong, since I love the pairing~!

Jayron's art changed in the 3rd chapter though, but the story still remained interesting.  The hard copy had some problems with cropping.  Some of the dialogues were cut out, and hopefully they fix it next time they release a new volume.  :)

****

Finally, I'm eating through the SummerKon stash!  I still have more to read, so stay tuned for future reviews!  :D

This is a not-so-review/bullet reviews of the indies I got in the past few Kons.  This batch from Indieket 2012,  Komikon 2012, Summer Komikon 2013…

May contain spoilers…

Lowly Pop Culture  #1 (?)
The script is okay.  It's a mish-mash of concepts ( religion + post apocalyptic world…No, it's not religious).  I find the blurbs a little big.  Also, do avoid putting text on geometrical patterns (makes reading a bit difficult).  I don't mind Riso quality, just avoid pixillated art and text…. ^_^;

:iconrawwrrmokopatrick: AGBAGTITAKMANEN
The comic is, again, not for everybody.  But give it a chance,  and it's a really funny/crazy story.  I don't know how Rawrr comes up with these. It's also quite…err, narcissistic, but that's the part that will make you laugh.  Kanya-kanyang trip lang talaga sa mundo…

:icongiosdesk: Lakan at Makisig  #6
Nice quick read…That kinda gave me a glimpse of the future.  When you have kids to take care of and… well…they're being kids.  Parenthood headaches to come eh?

IKOS/Anino Karimlan -- Agos sa Mata ng Buwan
Intriguing, kaya lang masyadong bitin…needs more pages and sharper resolution for the art.

T-phase Comics/ Jonathan Tepace – Tabak:  Ang Alamat
I quite admire the inking style, strong and defined and detailed.   Unfortunately, the art is overpowering.  It would be nice if there was more space for the dialogues and for the speech baloons (Eye-rest din kasi siya). Also, a cleaner font would organize the page….and borders too. It's a little cramped for me.  Maybe a slight size adjustment in format would do the comic good (6.5x8.5 ?).  I like the thickness of the paper, and the print quality is really good.  The story is okay, I just got a little confused with so many characters… @_@

Richard Arguilla – Trap Them: Prom Night
I'll focus on the first story this time.  The story is about revenge…sort of.  It's a little creepy, but nice and  short.  The transition to the 2nd story (unrelated) confused me a little, but I can let that pass…

Nino Balita – Pag-ibig o Pag-ibig/Mahal Kita… Pero ang Sakit-Sakit Na.
I thought the two stories were connected, since they were so close in theme.

The freebie Pag-ibig o Pag-ibig is a story about unrequited love.  It's a heartwarming, and at the same time, heart-stabbing story.  The script felt a little personal and effective…lalo na siguro kung dinanas mo yung same situation.

Mahal Kita, is another love themed story.  This time, tackling existing relationships and differences between the two people involved.  At first, the guy will irritate you.  Eventually, he'll learn an important lesson that people ought to remember.  The twist in the ending was a nice touch.  ;)

:iconandoyman: Ang Sumpa:  Kabanata 1
Mystery story this time.  I made a mistake of reading the 2nd part of the first chapter (I thought it was issue 1).  The story is intriguing, and pace is okay.

Nitpick would be the font size, and the length of the lines in each baloon.  I found it a little uncomfortable to read when the font got really tiny, yet there was so much space in the panel.  Maybe splitting some paragraphs into 2-3 parts would  make it easier to read.  But of course,  I still want to know what happens next…

:iconnotfranciskong: Hotdog Prince #2
The story makes more sense to me now…

More gags this time.  Reading the part where he does his exercises was an assault to the senses… What I meant by that was, I smell him too…poor sidekick, he needs his nose back.  I found the episode a bit too short though… More pages next time?  :3

GERILYA/Relucio/Torre – Pinoy Rangers: 0
When I first bought the comic, I thought it was pretty thin.  When I got to read it…it was, to my surprise, loaded.  :D

I'm not sure if I should put this under the superhero genre or not.  But they're definitely heroes, and it's a refreshing take on the theme.  This is a more localized version of "super heroes", and it's like Watchmen in terms of story feel, minus the tailored outfits.

For a teaser, the writer effectively introduces the (future?) members of the Pinoy Rangers in 10 pages.   That's pretty impressive.  The script and storytelling was really good.

As for the art,  the art is sketchy and chunky at the same time.  It fits the story nicely.  At first, I thought it was visually loaded.  But the nice layout and proper placement of the balloons organized the pages, and the speech balloons served as eye-rest.  Maybe a wider margin on the side would make it look less chunky, but I think it still works.

Don't miss out on this one, and it's a good reference for making storytelling as concise as possible for hero-based stories.

***

Okay, that's it for now.  Storm season is coming soon, and I probably read those indies as soon as possible.  I'll working on Ch. 26 soon, I'll just have to finish one more commission before I resume on CP.

This is a not-so-review/bullet reviews of the indies I acquired in the past 3 kons.  This batch includes titles from Indieket 2012 and Komikon 2012.

Contains spoilers.

Pelikomiks Studios – Zombinoy #2

Issue 2 is still as funny as the first, and still as enjoyable as the first.  Iniisip ko nga na kung nangyari talaga 'to, may mga mag-aattempt talagang tumakas gamit yung mga skateboards…And would fail the same way… ^_^;

The writers didn't fail to feed the readers just enough foreshadowing for the next few issues.  Of course, I'll buy next one...(I have issue 4 though…but I have to wait 'till I get issue 3… =_+  )

Black Monkey – GUNHILDR

The cover and interior art looks pretty good (better than most of the manga styled indies I've come across).  Nice character designs too…If you like pretty boys.  And the concept is pretty interesting.

The story is pretty much standalone (it's actually a prologue).  The downside is, despite the drama, I wasn't moved.  The author failed to make proper character development, and it failed to make a connection to me as a reader…which makes me sad, because I wanted to feel bad for one of character's death…but I didn't feel anything for him (just passing through).

Also, the publication (or my copy in particular), suffered from bad production.  The stapling ruined the spine (the book is very thick), which made the edges of the comic go in all directions.  The nice tones were muddled by the bad copy quality, also making the clean lineart dirty.  The most unfortunate of all is the order of the signatures.

In the first half of the comic, a couple of the signatures were flipped by mistake.  At first I thought I missed something, and then I realized, the characters were not supposed be there. So I was spoiled by a villain's death scene that was supposed to happen in the latter half of the comic. :/  Also, I missed  a funny scene,  that was totally out of place (because of the flipped pages).

Hopefully they improve their production methods next time… and use character build-up where it's needed.

Pazintave Komiks/ Mik Kamote – Desolation #1

The story and script is okay.  Mik needs to think of a way to separate his flash back from his present time story parts…but I guess the caption worked anyway.  My critique for this one is the font size…  It's a bit tiny, and the visuals are overpowering the text.  There a lot of space for the a little size adjustment… ;)  Overall…bitin.  :P

:iconkurohiko:  A.illusions and Karma

A.illusions is an interesting concept on how messageboards and admins work.  The story flow is okay…I just wish I knew what was really going on with the story, or how the world works in the story…  ^_^; (too many questions in my head)

Which leads me to Karma.  Karma's story is clearer…but it still left me (a little) confused because one of the characters in A.Illusions is also in Karma.  I guess I have to read more of the title to get a proper overview of both stories… >.<;

Richard Arguilla – Attack of the Man Eating Beef Steak/Katrina's Quest

I didn't start reading Catch from the beginning, so I'm not sure if the main characters battle-off monster food all the time.  But hey, it's food! :9

The Beef Steak story is entertaining, because I just like the bizaare idea.  XD  And they sound really yummy…and changed my mind when they mentioned bad breath… but still I'd like to eat them.

Katrina's Quest features another favorite food, with matching recipe at the back.  I just couldn't imagine Katrina eating it off the ground… ^_^;  Still cute though.  :P

Nicoy and Kenet – Senzaru SEAN #1

I like the pacing and the script…even the character development.  :D I liked that last page too.  Will pick up the next issue… :9  The only critique would be the printing quality...it was pale in some places.  But a good digital copier can solve that.  ;)

Pazintave Komiks/ Wilmar Logatoc – Makinarya #1

The pacing and script was almost okay.  I wish the author spent a little more time establishing the project involving Maki.

Also the first thing I noticed was that the pages didn't match the format.  Some of the text were cut off, and also had too many bleeding panels.  I like it that he's experimenting with the layout, but be very careful where to bleed panels.  The text is also a little too big, and it would help to add commas since some of the lines were too long to be spoken (or the reader won't notice the breaks).  Fewer close-ups would be nice too. :)

Still, I'd like to get to know Maki more… :3

:icongumbocrafael:  -- Mekanismo #1

I'm not sure if this is the only copy with the original art in front, but the cover I got has a really clean inked lineart.  O.O  Nice~!  The script and story is okay.

The overall look of the comic reminds me of the 90's mech anime.  The Mechs were nicely drawn. :3

The whole comic is toned…which brings me to the BUT part.  As much as I admire the feel of the comic, there seem to be misses in the selection of the shapes during the toning process.  There were many white spots, and some of the dots were way too big.  It was distracting me while I was reading (also, it's best not to put text over big dots…it makes the text unreadable).  The comic illustration became too dark…maybe smaller dots next time?  ^_^;;

Pazintave Komiks/Sherwin Sablaon  -- Juanderlandia #1

This is an interesting and entertaining read for me.  The storytelling and script was pretty good!  I like the Pinoy culture and mythos twist in the series.  I love the names and concept!

The inking is really nice.  There are fine details, but it doesn't overpower the look of the page and general lineart.   I like the shots too!  And the font choices….  Picking an odd font for Tanim, Saka and Araro is kinda brave, but it did work.  :D

My only nitpick is how the guava speaks.  Medyo naging off, since lahat sila malalim na tagalog, tapos biglang colloquial siya.

Over all,  oks siya.  May bago akong aabangan!  :9

***

Whaddayah know...10 titles in one day!  Okay, I might not be able to do this many bullet reviews in a while.  I'll have to work for now... ^___^;;;

There are more in the indie stash, but just bear with me, and I'll be eating through them all eventually...

This is a not-so-review (bullet reviews) of the indies I acquired in the past 3 cons.  This batch, from Indieket 2012....I got pretty busy... okay enough excuses...

Might contain spoilers...

Nino Balita -- Da Adbentyur Op Cotton #1

It's a story about a boy in search of a girlfriend...and decided to become a (super)hero.  Nino is pretty good with writing light stories like this.  It was entertaining, and I think kids will like it.  Nitpick?  The font used in the comic.  Yes it's readable, but I prefer he used a different font...It's a little too blocky/loud for me.  But I enjoyed it anyway. :3

:iconkickbackers777: -- Purageh #3

I liked the 2 very short stories in it.  I just wished they had more comics inside it though...I really miss reading Kickbacker titles...

:iconraykosen: Maha Magical Manananggal

Since this title was initially intended for release in Comicket (in Japan), I read this as a reader of the magical girl genre, and a person whose come
across the mananaggal monster many times over in different forms (comics of course).

I told Ray before that I'm really happy that he's gotten into Comicket, and extra happy that he's infusing his comic projects (under the Japanese comic Circle) with Pinoy culture.  It's not the only title where he did this.

It was a brilliant idea.  Making the the Manananggal this cute?  It was nicely written, and I never thought of these monsters to be magical
girls....it could actually lead to the macabre/black comedy genre.  It was a really nice move, and I hope this won't be the only comic project he'd be doing with the creatures from our mythos/culture... Go forth and promote them to Otakus!  XD

T-Phase comics/Aeron tepace -- Brutoy: Ang Batang Brutal

Another case of "Underground as can be".  It's a brutal story, about a kid and his lady-love.  Personally I wouldn't mark this as PG 13, since the theme is very much mature, and as the title indicates, BRUTAL. It's presented almost like a story book.  The script, and story flow is okay... and disturbing.  I'm not sure how much of story is based on actual events, but it's nonetheless unsettling...despite the doodly art.

:iconcarlorozykomiks: Kawayan ComicsFlipinas '70 #2

The conclusion.

After reading issue 2, I kinda realized that this story is pretty trippy...I mean done on a whim...but with a purpose.  I just didn't expect the comic to turn out the way it did, and end the way it did (but I did get the point of it all).

You already know I'm a fan of Carlo's art, however, I did get lost in some of the action panels.  I also got a little confused with the info bomb (Nostradamus liquid).  Still, I kinda liked the idea #2 was carrying (with the rebellious tone and all), and it was an interesting attempt on Carlo's
part.

:icontomokii:  Force 8 Track 2

One of those titles whose art I like following.

I got really disappointed about the author's news about not continuing this in print.  However, when I bought this, there is an issue 3....GAAAAAH!  A little frustrated right not that I didn't buy it.  I really hope she reconsiders, and still release this as print...

:iconrawwrrmokopatrick: -- Caution:  Drugs/Sex/Rock'n Roll

A not-so-"trippy" comic about the life of a rock star.  I kinda expected the ending...sort of...

As usual, Rawwrr was pretty conscious about the design of the pages, and it worked well with the gritty story. I like the macabre approach to the story...and I hope this frightens enough people to stay away from...monsters..

:iconburn-our-dough: Noel Pascual/Kowtow Komiks -- Crime-Fighting Call Center Agents #2

This title still stays as one of my all time faves.  What I like most about this title is the script.  It's a good mix of coloquial Filipino and English and still entertaning as ever.  The art is still awesomely good...la na akong ma-say dun.

Minsan gusto kong batukan yung ibang characters dahil sa pagiging sobrang "slow"...Man, sometimes I think they deserve their misadventures... XP

(I have issue 3, but I'll save that for later...)

***

Okay, that's it for now.

I'm kind of working on the CP cosplay shoot costumes for May.  So I'll try to read a few more comics to review.  (I'm also working on something other than comics, so I don't know when the next review will be).

Anyway, stay tuned for the next bullet reviews.  (So much to read, so little free time)...

This is a not-so-review of the indies that I bought in the past few Kons (past few kons since some of these came from  Indieket 2012).  May contain spoilers.

Gabriela Serrano and Ika Dela Cruz -- Ninjas at the Beach

It's about two ninjas offing each other.  The style is pretty simple, but you'll have to pay attention to the story flow or else you might get lost in the panels.  I didn't have much trouble reading it despite the layout, so I guess the experimental look still worked.  It's a nice quick read.

Salmon Komiks Lite/Kat Palmares -- Headphones

It's full of random situations. :P  The nitpick?  Comic sans. It messes up things.  It's still nice nontheless.  Yung comic sans lang talaga.

Salmon Komiks Lite/Gino Alcoba and Nica Rojo -- Diva Dubber

I'm kind of wondering if there are dubbers that act the same way... ^_^;

Salmon Komiks Lite -- Hipster

I enjoyed the jokes in this one, goes well with the art style.  I kinda feel sad about the tumbang preso part, but there are still kids that play the game normally anyway.  :P

:iconkaicastle: Patintero #6

I need to update myself with the issues. X(  So far so good pa rin.  ;)

Josel Nicolas --  Windmills: Bearly Standing

A follow up to the previous heartbreak issue.

I don't drink any type of alcohol, but the comic kinda gave me a little insight on what goes on when people drink out of misery...well sort of.  I do advice to not read the comic when you're stressed out, since the story is quite heavy.

What I liked about this issue is, at the end of the comic, the characters are still slapped with the fact that you still have to face the problems.  It's sad though.  But the comic ends with a positive note that...well, you'll just have to appreciate the simple "yays!" and move on.

***

I still have a ton of indies to read.  @_@  Really sorry if I haven't updated this account.  Have been busy on FB, and most of the CP updates are there.  But the indie thang reviews will still be posted here (just in case somebody is still reading them).

BTW, I won't be able to release CP Vol. 4 this year, and instead aim for Summer Komikon 2014.  I'll still be working on the chapters the rest of the year, pero di lang talaga kayang umabot for November.  Anyway, stay tuned for more bullet reviews!  ;)

Happy New year guys!  Here's a not-so-review of the indies I bought in the last 3 cons.

Anyway, contains spoilers...

Carlo Jose San Juan, MD – The Land of the Guardians

The comic is CJSJ's first fantasy take-off for Callous Comics.

The story's okay.  My nitpick for this is that  I wish there was more action, or more focus on the task at hand.  The first half of the comic dwelled a little too long establishing the world, that Rianne shouldn't be there, and also convincing her to do something.  It would have been awesome if the Black Queen fought a little longer, fought that army with the other guardians.  I also felt the story should have double the number of strips to be able to pull-off the story line.

I'd like to dare Doc to make an issue outside the comic strip format for his special fantasy storylines as the strip format might have limited CJSJ's storytelling skills.  I appreciate the colored pages, but it would be nice to see him experiment a little. The shots, and visual pacing are pretty good, which is why I'd like to see him work with Callous outside the usual format.  ;)

:iconenjelia:  Pick Me Up!  #2
Still funny!  Deviated from the one joke per page this time.  Medyo naloka ako sa jejespeak.  Hopefully more pages next time…?  :3

:iconfreetoons:  The Adventures of Kapitan Tog
I like the electric fan joke a lot … :D  (wala na akong masabi storytelling skill niya, yun na yun)

FUM/Rui-Chan --  Enguard #1
The premise is okay.  However, I was a little put off by the pin-up type poses used for the comic.  It looked a bit awkward sometimes, and she's still looking at the "camera" every time.  More dynamic poses next time I hope? (Never be afraid to hide the face, or show some other body part if the scene demands it... ;) )

FUM/Dr. Race – Nueve #1
The first chapter is okay.  Reed is a pretty scary boxer.  Some of the panels are a little hard to follow (reading flow), since some of them are too close together (page 10),  so I wasn't sure if I was reading the story right.  Also,  I didn't like articles being inserted in the middle of comic pages, since it disrupts my reading, so hopefully they avoid that next time.

FUM/Freya Dy – Silver Star #1
I liked this story the most. It has a nice concept.  Nice shots and art.  Some of the pages had faded print though.  Overall it's a good title.  :D

FUM/MNX Onisan – Jill-Saw Puzzle #1
Interesting concept.  I like it that the layout is also interesting.  I'm not a fan of the font used in the first part of the monologue, but that's just me nitpicking…  ^_^;

FUM/Sky – Love Behind the Glasses #1
It's a nice Shoujo story.  Unfortunately, the comic suffered from bad printing  (my copy has stripes over it).  The layout was also too tight, which goes against the usual Shoujo style pacing.  Slow down a little bit and let your readers get immersed… ;)

FUM had a few technical problems with the printing (like unwanted bleeds, and see thru printing).  They would also need to separate comic previews from the existing comics, or label it as an ad for an up and coming title, and make a unique look or put a "marker" for the articles to avoid confusion.... ^_^;

:iconsilentsanctum: MONA of the Babes #1
The comic is quite trippy and almost random… in a good way.  :D  Many pop culture references too.  Yes I enjoyed it.  :3

:iconf-h-a-t-e::iconamjie: B.A.T.A. #2
The title, as usual, had really nice art. I wish the printing was consistent (sine some were stark black and some were pale).  I liked the action scenes.  My critique would be… The readers are still left in the dark about what's going on.  All I know is, there are these "children" (who have powers) who are around wreaking havoc because of discontent.   The world itself isn't explained yet.  I know the author is keeping the mystery of the story, but it still left me confused after the 2nd issue.  Hopefully, I'll be enlightened next time…

:iconf-h-a-t-e::icontarotski: Love Riot #2
For FHATE issue 2, this is the story I enjoyed the most.  It's really funny!  XD  It's a love story, with 2 protagonists who started on the wrong foot.   I really enjoyed it :D

:iconf-h-a-t-e::iconkazukishinta: Magusta #2
The story is okay.  However, the author needs to thicken the lines of the panels more since his art style is pretty detailed (it gets confusing at times).  Also, in the copy I got, one of the leaves was flipped over.  Be careful assembling next time…  ;)

:iconf-h-a-t-e::iconwildfruit-ichiru: Love is a stapler #2
It's a nice read, and the grays are also nice.  My critique would be…Masyadong siksik yung panels.  Looks a little too chunky at times.  It would be nice if there was more space in the panels to allow the readers to empathize with all the drama going on… Shoujo pacing would be good for the story. ^_^

:iconf-h-a-t-e::iconeye19theseeker: Buang #2
I like the character designs. The story…I think I need to check out the first issue again (it would be good to have a short synopsis of the past issue for this one, since release in between issues take a bit long for a complicated fantasy story).  Also, I think one of the pages had a misprint (only half printed).  Be a little careful about the layouts and overlapping images, as it gets a little confusing sometimes.

:iconf-h-a-t-e::iconideasdontgrowontrees: Greywing #1 (?)
The concept is interesting.  But it needs a chapter cover. ^_^;  Also, I am left wondering about the rules of the world, so I was a little surprised when he suddenly used a magical item (which also took a few pages to establish).  I know, storytelling-wise, the author tried to keep it as a surprise, but it didn't work for me.  It kinda confused me, since the "rules" weren't established in the beginning, and I'm not sure what the story was really about.  One of the pages was also doubled, so I don't know if I missed something.  ^_^;

FHATE also needs chapter breakers, since each story runs for at least 10 pages each.  We do need visual cues for the next story... ^.^

Okay that was a lot.  But still still not halfway through the stash… @_@

Since I have to go back to work on CP4, I'm not sure when the next batch would be, so please be patient.  ^_^;

Here's a not-so-review of the indies I bought in the last 3 cons.  I apologize again for taking so long (medyo siningit ko lang 'tong review ngayon before ako magwork ulit on CP4).

Anyway, contains spoilers....

Ice Cream Indie/Shida Shinpan -- In Her World Vol. 1
In Her World is a story about a strange girl and a guy who got curious about her.  The story intrigues me a lot.  I really like the concept and the script and it's a very nice read.

My critique about this one (at least for the copy I got) was the printing.  Tagusan yung ink.  Kinda ruins it, and the spine design suffered because of the binding.  Hopefully they fix it in the next batches.

:iconenjelia: Pick Me Up! #1
I first came across this title in Facebook.  Since the comic was updated daily, the jokes were done one page at a time.  I love the humor and the quick jokes!  XD  My advice for Enjellia is to make sure the printed version of the comic have a longer story for the readers (at least for the compilation), along with the one joke per page scripts.  It feels a little different when you can turn the pages fast, and when you view the pages on the internet one at a time.

There's nothing wrong if course if she keeps it as it is, but I enjoyed the last part of the issue when the guy was lamenting about why he likes a girl that hates him...it just got interesting.  ^_^

:iconolracstribe: Birdie Kid #1
Like his previous work Pitotoy, Birdie kid is filled with puns... :P  While I enjoy Carlo's script for his superhero comics, I would like him to write something more like a slice of life comic, or a comedy.  I noticed all his comic titles were about superheroes, but his writing style would fit other story genres too.  So I hope he'd experiment with other other stories next time.  ^_^

Anbuzitis/Spanton Productions -- Luna II
They made an intesting twist on Tiyanaks. I like that concept a lot, including the smokey blade.  The story's quite nice.  Bitin nga lang...(or nabitin lang ako kasi baka may #3 na, 'di ko lang alam)

Benjamin Bartolome -- Team Tag Team #1
It's about Pinoy wrestling.  I really don't know anything about wrestling, so I find it pretty interesting.  The shots and script are okay.  My  critique about it is that the some of the text got sandwiched in the book binding.  But that's just technical stuff, so I still enjoyed it... :3

Chad Cabrera/Mike Banting -- Drop Dead Dangerous #1
Paranormal Crime Investigation western style.  The pacing and art is good, very interesting story... Yeah it's quite good!  Nitpick would be the font used for the dialogues.  I could read it fast, but with a little difficulty (probably because it was slanted, or because of the kerning...one of the two)... Still good work  :3

:iconmelcasipit: Mukat #5-7
As usual I enjoyed the script and story.

My critque would be the way Mel inserted the back stories of Sapok and Jani.  Okay I understand that Sapok's back story was needed since Samwel got introduced.  But I think Jani's (scar) back story could be saved for later for some mystery (or it could be mentioned quickly, and then unravelled later in the story IF ever the back story is relevant to the next few issues).  There were too many things going on, which is probably why I found it out of place (or unnecessary at the time).  But like I said before, this is an early work, so I know Mel already improved in storytelling now... :P

***

That's it for now.  Sorry If I just covered a few, but I'm still in the process of finishing Chap. 25 (CresciP Vol. 4), and there's still a pile of comics waiting to be read.  I'm not sure If I'm gonna include them all in the bullet reviews, but I'll try my best to go over them as soon as possible.

While this entry has nothing to do with the holiday season, I'll just say that I have 7 pages to go to finish a chapter for Vol. 4!  *____*

Finally some progress!  Since I'm concentrating on the CP pencils for now, I'll probably work on more reviews after I'm done with chapter 25.  I'm still aiming for Komikon 2013 for Vol. 4 (I'm keeping my hopes up), so forgive me for taking so long to do bullet reviews... CP needs my love and attention.  ^3^;;;

I'm going to attempt to do better inks for Vol. 4, so there might be a slight change in rendering, including grays.  I'll be experimenting again, since I want Vol. 4 to look good. And hopefully I finish my inks this December...

Anyway, cross your fingers that I do this right!  >.<v

1. Each person must post 10 things about them selves on their journal.
2. Answer the questions the tagger set for you and create ten more for the people you tag to answer.
3. You have to choose ten people and post their icon.
4. Go to their page and tell them they have been tagged. simple enough.
5. No tag backs. Playground rules, respect them
6. You have to tag ten people.

Ten Things About Myself
1. I chose Ika-siyam since the number 9 appears 3 times on my birthdate....one more for my nickname...
2. I like sour food
3. I had 3 pet chickens, a dog, 2 ducks, 2 pygmy parrots, and one martinez (some short lived rabbits and turtle)...had.  :(
4. I like collecting things.  I collected minerals, micromachines, stickers, stationery, coins, shells, keychains...and transparent erasers all before highschool.
5. I made reversible felt toys when I was a kid, since I can't afford a fisher price one...
6. I like Neil Gaiman books
7. I'm a Ghostbusters fan.
8. The first thing I learned to cook is Nissin instant noodle with a basic flavoring...I ate it for the Sasame oil...
9. I stole rounded rocks from my neighbor's yard just so I could draw on them with crayons...
10. I bookmarked every single bird pic in our encyclopedia for drawing reference...

zk306:

1. What got you into drawing/writing/whatever it is you do?

I really don't remember why I liked to draw... ^_^;  For comics, that would be the Sailormoon manga.  Before I read manga, I though it wouldn't be good to make comics with no color.  I'm used to colored pages.

When I started collecting Sailormoon, it dawned on me that black and white comics could be charming and engaging.  Since I already like to write, and my friends wanted to make an anthology, I joined the project (which never really happened).  Aw heck, I made several chapters already, might as well make them read it...

2. How long have you been drawing/writing/doing that thing you do?

I've been drawing animals since I was a kid.  Comics...uhm... 16 years (including drafts).

3. Have you made money with the above? If so, what's the biggest amount you made?

What money?  Ahahaha!  The most would be 3K I think (comic sales) ... 12K if it includes teaching comics to kids...

4. What will you do if you meet me in person?

I'd say sorry for failing to recognize you multiple times (bad memory), and say thank you for being a reader of CP.  ;)

5. If a genie is willing to grant you a wish in exchange for all of your artistic abilities, what will you wish for? (No cheating. You cannot wish for better artistic skills and the like).

Good health and long life for my family.  :)

6. There is a bathtub full of water that you need to empty. You are given a glass, a ladle, and a large pail. What will you do?

I'd scoop the first batch of water with the pail.  Whatever's left will be scooped with the glass, and then the ladle if there already too little water left.

7. If you can be a type of chocolate, what type of chocolate will you be and why?

White chocolate...kasi mas gusto ko yun kesa normal chocolate... XP

8. If we were stuck in an anime/movie/game/book, which one would we be stuck in?

Movie: Wreck it Ralph, mukhang masaya
Anime:  Sunny Pig ahahaha, para anything goes!  XD
Game:  Plants vs. Zombies....para shoot ng zombies all day long...
Book:  American gods...parang masayang kausapin yung mga gods a nalimutan na ....

9. A weird creature turned you into a Magical Girl/Boy/Thing! What is your superpower?

Invisibility, para mabatukan ko yung mga ayaw kong politiko sabay takbo!  XD

10. Complete the sentence:  Nice shoes, wanna ______?

Nice shoes, wanna have them stepped on?  (binyag)

My Questions:

1. What is your favorite medium?  Tools of the trade?
2. can you describe your drawing style in 3 words?
3. What's your fave food combo?
4. What do you listen to when you work on your art?
5. Fictional Character closest to your heart (or personality)?
6. Kung gagawing pelikula ang buhay mo, sinong gusto mong gumanap na artista? ( Local ha)  :P
7. Sinong character mo ang gusto mong i-cosplay?
8. Anong theme song mo sa umaga?
9. If you belonged to a sentai world, in what color would your uniform be?
10. Animal, Vegetable, or mineral?
(sorry wala akong maisip)

Here's a not-so-review of the indies I bought in the last 3 cons.  Sorry if I took so long,  I got pretty busy… (This batch, I got during Indieket)

Anyway, contains major spoilers....

:iconnotfranciskong:  Komikult – The Hotdog Prince #1

It's about a Hotdog Prince, who in this issue, insists he's not anything else but a (gangster-like) Hotdog with strange powers.  No solid story yet.  I think the purpose of the first issue is really an introduction to the main Hotdog, since the other characters have no proper introduction.  I have to admit I got a little confused, but the next issue might have more plot, so I'll tackle more of this title when I get to read the next issue…

AKA Productions – Si Adana, ang Taga-bukid na pintasera

This is actually a nice story book for kids.  My nitpick for this title is that, the text was a little too big, and the font is a little difficult to read…or it could be because the text was placed over the artwork (which made it confusing).  My suggestion is to leave a blank space for the text next time.  But overall, it's a nice read.

Carlo Valenzuela – Pinoy Totoy Pi-Totoy #1

The comic is filled with lots of puns (I mean title pa lang), which made it fun to read.  However, the pace is too fast for its own good leaving very little space to develop Toto's character.  It has a lot of icky but funny moments, and I like the witty dialogues.

AKA Productions – Reaching your Heart #1

It's about a girl who lives alone, and who in this issue, discovers that she's engaged.  After I read the title, it reminded me a little about a…*cough* hentai* plot (roles reversed of course).  The father seems to trust the guy a lot, or else he wouldn't send the the guy to her with house keys.  The first issue builds around the mystery of why she didn't recognize him….which also made me curious…And so I might pick up the next issue next time…It's cute btw.

:iconrawwrrmokopatrick: MASOKISSTA METAPMOPHOSIS (#1 ?)

This comic is not for everybody.  The panels are interesting, accompanied with comical narrations, since the visuals were really weird.  I'm not sure what the series is really about, except that it's about change.  I was reading it like I was watching an animated short…since it would look interesting on film…

:iconwadevesecha: Section Six Comics – SLASH #1

SLASH is a type of (aura) shield that protects people from harm.  The protagonist, Alizeti, has an unusually strong SLASH, which protected her from harm when her family was attacked.

The story is like an introduction to a game-like story, where the characters have life stats on them. Some of the shots were pretty cool. I think the pace was too fast for me to build any connection with Alizeti's family (and her wanting revenge).  Also, I got confused with some of the panel's orientation (should I look at it left to right, or right to left?), and there was too much info for me to take in one sitting… @_@;.  Hopefully there would be more character buildup next time, and slower pacing, just to get the feel of  the world of SLASH and it's characters.

IKOS Comics – KARIT: Ang Muling Paggising

It's one of those comics that make you comfortable reading the first few pages, and then slaps you with something unexpected. I gotta hand it to Ronzkie for illustrating that part perfectly…Also that disturbing last panel…

:iconikotron:  Paraluman:  Ala-ala ni Maria Clara #2

The story is interesting.  My only nitpick with this issue is the part when Emsi and her friend were talking in a diner.  I couldn't tell which were thought bubbles and which lines were actually spoken….or who was actually talking.  Other than that, the story is still engaging.

RH Quilantang and Odree --  Hipon Gamay #1

The comic was well executed.  The chapter relied heavily on Odree's visual storytelling skills, and she did well to support RH's idea/script.  I'm not gonna say anything about the story, since you'll have to check it out to see what I meant when I wrote the first sentence.  All I could say is Hipon deserved the slap on his face…and maybe a kick…

:iconmeganoncomics::icontepaipascual::iconherminihildo::iconwindandwillows: -- Mark 9 verse 47 #8

I loved the flying pages.  I like the visuals in this issue.  Aliw pa rin yung script. Bitin.

Okay that's the first batch…I still have to read the others…

Give me a little time to sit and read…and  work on CP vol 4 this time… :P
BTW, thanks for dropping by the :iconpointzerocomics: booth last Komikon... and for those who bought CFH and CP...I really hope they enjoy it... :3

Feedbacks are welcome!

October Project: CP by ika-siyam

Hi guys!  Sorry if I haven't been updating DA lately.  ^_^;

Got pretty busy with a lot of things like Vol. 4, the FB pages for :iconpointzerocomics:, CP and 100 Araw ng Komiks.

We're preparing for two events this october, GTMACCCon and Winter Komikon.  Here's what happened during my hiatus --> buhayindiekomiks.blogspot.com/…

So yeah!  There will be a cosplay competition featuring Komiks characters!  :D  I'm pretty excited with Silaya's catwalk! XD
You can see the pics here --> www.facebook.com/CresciProphec…

It might be a while before I do any bullet reviews, the two events need my attention...most specially CP Vol. 4.  And I'm a little under the weather lately.  I still have my indieket stash unread... ^_^

Anyway, that's it for now!

This is a not-so-review of the indies I got during the Summer Komikon.  It's just a bullet review, so don't expect much... ^_^;
(Might contain spoilers)

Alabmemei/ Haraya -- My Path

I'm not sure If I should call this a light novel or a story book.  Either way it's a very nice story.  It was well written, and it's bitter-sweet.  You'll go "Awww..."  after.

:iconmarcodimaano::iconisangkutsarangmoe::icongunrev: Ninja Girl KO!

I've read the Mangaholix issues.  The indie issue dropped me somewhere near the published issues, but the indie story came out of nowhere (or very far from the published chapters).  Anyway, as usual, Kriss was very consistent with his art.  Even if the chapter is far from the first ones, I still enjoyed reading it.

As for asking whether to continue with the previous storyline or not, please do continue with the Kamao/myterious organization plot.  Just give a short wrap up for new readers, since the first chapters already hooked us with it.  ^.^

Florencio Jusay Jr. -- Johnny Astig/Ang Bagong Kidlat

I enjoyed the script of both stories.  However, the font size made the pages text heavy. Maybe a size smaller next time, so there would be space for more art...?  ;)

:iconkillersid: Pelikomiks -- Zombinoy #1

I did enjoy reading it. I see who's gonna turn next, since they gave ample visual cues.  I kinda like the idea that the lead characters are already a couple, and that there's trouble in paradise, and that they didn't start with a shotgun in hand.  Next ssue?  :D

Carlo Valenzuela -- Stickboy

I liked the idea of a really thin superhero who's very hard to target.  ^_^  The story's nice.

:iconnanditonasironzkie:  Sulsi #1

I was quite impressed with this one.  I loved how the comic started.  The storytelling  was pretty good, and I really like the character designs.  Looking forward to the other titles... ^.^

Jaiden Kaiba -- Game Start!

I had fun reading it. It's quite funny.  The art's pretty good too!
^_^

Stripper Syndicate/Wilmar Logatoc -- Makinarya (Prologue)

The beginning was okay.  I think some of the dialgues should be split into 2 separate word baloons, kasi masyadong loaded minsan,  tsaka masikip siya tignan.  I like it na maraming eyerest dun sa panels.  :)

Stripper Syndicate/Richard Arguilla -- Time Jump

My only critique for this one is that the space in between consecutive panels was too wide.  I got a little confused about how to read the story, until I realized I was supposed to read it left to right, instead of top to bottom (then left to right).  The space forced me to read it the wrong way.  Closer next time maybe?  But it was a cute comic. ^_^

Stripper Syndicate/Frost Mempin -- What the Heck! Comics

Mixed reactions with this one.  It's not for everybody and You're gonna have to read it with an open mind. I still enjoyed it.  Nice art BTW.

Stripper Syndicate/Aeron tepace -- T-Phase Comics

I'm not sure what the title of the comic is... ^_^;  It's almost the same flavor as  What The Heck! Comics.  I like the improvised drum set.  :P

Stripper Syndicate :iconrawwrrmokopatrick: -- Raaawr Comics

Maiikli lang pero oks din.

Stripper Syndicate/Emman Centeno -- State of Mind

Random thoughts in comic form. oo nga saan nga ba pumupunta si Aquaman kapag...

***

Okay that's it for now.  Sorry if it took too long.  I'm a little under the weather lately.  I'll try to get on with the other titles soon.  More to come.  ^_^

BTW, the artworks from the Comics Arthology exhibit are still up for sale.  PM me if you're interested.

This is a not-so-review of the indes I got during the Summer Komikon.  It's just a bullet review, so don't expect much... ^_^;
(Might contain spoilers)

:iconnorbyela:  Weather-weather Lang

It's basically a story about 2 Ondoy victims.  Of course, this story brought back bad memories, only because Norby wrote the story well (and I read this comic with heavy rains on the background, with thunder and all).  Norby has a knack for subtle drama, subtle but effective.  My favorite would be the part where they sing the "chocolate rain" song.  It was a nice touch!  Do pick it up when you get the chance...

:iconnerp: Sanduguan #11

Since this is the 11th issue, I'm dropped in the middle of the story of fighting gods (named after local mountains and denizens).  I like the character design of the Mountain gods.  The action scenes reminded me a bit of the Thor movie, since they're also gods fighting with each other (or beings of the same power). My nit pick for this is the font size, whick slowed down my reading.  It's quite tiny.  ^_^';    I was wondering what the comic would sound like in Filipino...

:iconolracstribe: Haraya -- Alapaap #1

I didn't read the description at the back when I read the comic, so I was a little surprised when Gen was fighting criminals while being a gangster.  The pacing and script is okay.  However, some of the comic text is a bit tight for reading (medyo siksikan).  But overall, it's a good first ish.  :)

:iconandoyman: RoniBats --   Palimos ng Kulangot

what I thought to be some random humored comic is actually a comic that gives a light punch of reality.  This was free BTW.  I didn't expect the ending.  Nice art/storytelling, nice read.

:icondinuguan:  Bruho Barbero #1

It's about a hero disguised as a barber.  I love the details in the art.  The layout style is a bit new to me, but I don't remember getting lost reading it. It's a nice concept. Barbarian Barber...makes sense to me... :9

:iconaaronfelizmenio: Gwapoman 2000 #3 (of 4)

I have to admit I got a little confused with the storytelling (specifically the timeline).  The art style is good, script is nice of course.  What added to my confusion was the preview of 1081: Manila Accounts, since it was followed again by a teaser of Gwapoman 2000 (not just a couple of pages).

It would help to give me a little warning before giving a teaser of another issue in the issue... It left me wondering if it's still part of issue 3.  However, I did like the background story.  Hopefully it would be less confusing for me next time.  ^_^;

:iconcurseoftheradio: Section Six -- Bulas

I also got a little confused with the title on the first page "Chronicles of Manja:  Ch. 3".  This is issue 1... Did miss something?  O.o  Eventually, the last part tied up with the first few pages, so it made sense after.  Anyway the art style and script is pretty nice.

:iconoldpantymachine:  Puso Negro (reprint)

It still made me laugh the 2nd time around. Aside from the fact that it's colored now, it has a few new pages. Now, if you haven't read this, you'll probably want to give Puso a punch in the face, but the last part explains a lot about why he acts the way he does.  Bigla akong naawa sa kanya.  XD  But I think he'll remain a nasty guy in the next issues (merong kasunod diba?  >:D )...

Rasel Reyes -- Likeman

(This was part of a sampler.  I'm not gonna review the other comics in the samplers for now, since they're too short for me to say much about them... Okay, just a short one... Sean is a bit intriguing, Chronicles of Ascalon's art need more thick lines, for shadows... ^_^;).

Likeman is a series of funny strips about random things in our protagonist's life.  Yes, I like them strips, tsaka bagay naman yung art style dun sa feel nung comic. :)

Okay that's it for now.  There's still a lot I havent read, and a lot of them are either Anthologies or graphic novels, so it would it would take a bit longer for me to read them.

Anyway, stay tuned for the next batch!
